By downloading, installing, or using StepMaxxer ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

The service

StepMaxxer is a walking-focused fitness app that generates personalized daily step plans based on your self-reported routine. The app reads your step count from Apple HealthKit, sends local notifications, and optionally shields selected apps via Apple's Screen Time framework.

StepMaxxer is not medical advice. The app provides general wellness suggestions based on publicly available health guidance. It is not a substitute for professional medical, dietary, or fitness advice. Consult a healthcare professional before starting any exercise program, especially if you have existing health conditions.

Subscriptions

StepMaxxer offers auto-renewable subscriptions managed through the Apple App Store:

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at purchase confirmation. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price. No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods.

AI-generated content

Walking plans are generated by artificial intelligence (Apple Foundation Models on-device or Anthropic Claude via cloud). AI output is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific situation. The step targets, activity schedules, and coaching text are suggestions — not prescriptions.

We do not guarantee that following a generated plan will produce any specific health outcome, including weight loss.

Screen Time / Doomscroll shield

The doomscroll shield feature uses Apple's Family Controls and Managed Settings frameworks to limit access to apps you select. You choose which apps to shield and can override the shield at any time. StepMaxxer does not permanently block access to any app. You can disable the feature entirely in Settings.

HealthKit data

StepMaxxer accesses Apple HealthKit with your explicit permission to read step count data. We comply with Apple's HealthKit guidelines: we do not use HealthKit data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties (except as described in our Privacy Policy for cloud plan generation).

Your responsibilities

Limitation of liability

StepMaxxer is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, health issue, or other damage arising from your use of the app or reliance on its AI-generated plans.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Intellectual property

StepMaxxer, including its design, mascot character, illustrations, code, and content, is protected by copyright. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to StepMaxxer if you violate these terms. You can terminate your use at any time by deleting the app and cancelling your subscription.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of significant changes through an app update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the Netherlands.
